Chill on Park: Two Years in Business
We’re excited to have celebrated our two-year-anniversary on May 15th! With all the excitement of another year ahead, we’ve been reflecting on the wonderful things that have happened at Chill on Park so far.
Where do we even begin?
Since opening in May of 2015, Chill on Park has supported more than 30 local organizations and causes! We opened our shop with the mission-first mindset of supporting all the hardworking and diverse community members and advocates. With our focus on children and education, we have partnered with so many amazing people who are doing great things in our community.
Chill on Park has had an outstanding partnership with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Dorchester and the Louis D. Brown Peace Institute from the start. They have helped us find our enthusiastic, ice-cream-loving staff and have supported many of our in-store events. We’ve also had the opportunity to work with student interns from the Epiphany School, Roxbury Youthworks, and Y.O.U. Boston.
We are proud to have hosted a Children’s Story Hour in collaboration with the Fields Corner Library every single month since the summer of 2015! Shout out to Ms. Cindy who has been a pleasure to work with. She’s introduced us to so many great children’s books and folktales already and we look forward to continuing this reading series.
In addition to our Monthly Children’s Story Hour, we’ve been hosting many Special Children’s Author Events and readings, including our Women’s History Month reading with Boston City Councilor At-Large Ayanna Pressley. We thank all the authors and readers for their time and for bringing some family-fun to Chill on Park.
We also want to thank and give a shout out to The Dorchester Food Coop, Smart From the Start, and other organizations, who have held meetings or open hours in our shop. We are grateful for your support!
Chill on Park has also attended a bunch of community events such as MAHA’s Taste of Dorchester, Codman Square’s Men of Boston, Dot Day Committee’s Chili Cook-Off, and many more.
Throughout this past year, we were thrilled to see our social media take off. We partnered with @BostonFoodies and Boston Public Market for some fun social media giveaways, and look forward to planning more!
